3/7/07

We had David, Kris, Tony, James, Charlie and Ted when Doug decided to join in for a game.  So, we split into two tables of 3 and 4.

Midgard

Charlie, Ted and Doug took on the role of viking warriors in the icy fjords.  There are many things to like about this game for me.  First, it plays quickly in under an hour.  Second, I like the "fairy tale" card passing idea which works nicely here.  Third, I like the gold card setting turn order and being able to see what other players may have up their sleeve in the upcoming round so you can watch for big scoring swings.  Fourth, there is the "take that" element that is fun.  The game can be very random and turn order is critical....but, it is a fun ride for me.  Besides, I won.

Taj Mahal

The other table took on Taj Mahal.  My understanding is the David started in the lead and never looked back.  It apparently was not very close.

Doug left us and we were back to 6.  It was time for:

Europa 1945-2030

There was much loud and boisterous discussion and various wild coalitions as we brought the world into the EU.  At the beginning of the third epoch, we just barely won the war.  Had that not occured, tides would be very different.  With the first war out of the way, as a group we managed to bring almost everyone into the EU by games end.  Thanks to Dave's moaning and groaning, everyone felt sorry for him (why hasn't the rest of the group figured out Dave's whining ploy?) and they drug him all over Europe kicking and screaming for the final victory.
