A great night with six players and it was great to see Todd back with us. At the table, Kris, Charlie, Todd, James, Tony and Ted.

Prototypes

The crew was nice enough to subject themselves to two of my new prototypes. Both needed a little tweaking but, are on the right track. Enough said.

Age of Steam

This is a very unforgiving game with extremely tight money management. Guess wrong and you could be out. As a result, the group is mixed on the success of this one. Unfortunately, this one is grouped in the Volldamf and Railroad Tycoon bucket. I think most of the group would rate one of those other games higher than Age of Steam.

We did hit the circumstance in round 3 when one or two players ran out of money and should have been out of the game. We played the kinder gentler variant to give all players money equal to the largest debt which was only $1. And, again in turn 5 or 6 it happened again.

Bottom line, it is a nicely done, gamer game that is very unforgiving. I understand why it has such a strong following. In the end, James managed to win by 2 points over Todd.
