We had six and with requests for some limited player games, we broke into two tables.
Great Wall of China
We
had 4 for this one as we were waiting for others to arrive. The deal
was, we would play one more wall whenever the next person arrived and
call it a game. Well, everyone knows Ted would have won if the game
had completed correctly due to superior intellect....but, the game was
abandoned early.
For Sale
With
the 5th player to arrive, we decided on a quick one waiting for James.
The second set of houses for bid almost bankrupted Ted when the wimps
chickened out too early. When all the dust cleared, Charlie proved to
be the best real estate agent.
Table 1, Charlie, Travis and James
Ra
Travis had never played. The first round was over quickly.
Everyone
was close. The second round saw a fight over Pharaohs between James and
Travis. The final round saw James pull ahead with lots of points for
monuments. - winner James
Thurn & Taxis
Travis
had never played. James seemed to be slightly ahead the whole game. He
collected more big scoring tiles. Charlie had a chance to end the game
but didn't trying for the 7 run and building more posts. It didn't
work. James continued to score and won easily.
Big City
Travis
had never played. The first park played by James slammed Charlie and
Travis. James seemed to have a few more connected tiles. Charlie and
Travis seemed to have lots more singles. James built a mall and both
Charlie and Travis built a church. Travis fought hard but James came
away the winner.
Feurio
Travis and James had never played. Charlie had never played 3 player. He liked 2 player better. Travis was the runaway winner.
Vulcan
Travis
and James had never played. Charlie had never played 3 player. We read
the rules and started flying. James kept saying something was wrong but
we kept playing. Charlie thinks we had everything right. James thinks
he won but Charlie was writing down the winners after each game and
wrote CD by Vulcan. All agree, Travis was way behind.
Table 2, Ted, Kris, and Dave
Ys
Kris
had an idea for a blog about use of workers in games and asked to play
the games that followed as he had never tried them. Worker's united
and neighborhoods got developed and tiles were grabbed and the stock
market was manipulated. In the end, Ted was the clear winner until the
final scoring of the King's favor (the variant). Finishing last there
with a big point swing let David take the win but we were all within 3
points of each other so a very close game.
Aladdin's Dragons
Somehow,
Dave managed to pull of an early Palace run to take a lead. And, he
never lost it. As much as Kris and I tried to play spells and make
things happen, we just could not slow Dave down.
Keythedral
Dave took to the "build a lot of houses early" strategy which paid off for him in the long run.
Now
we need to get a contractor to widen the door sill so Dave can get his
swelled head through having dominated the table for the evening.
