Die Macher
Well we had been planning to try this one for a while. And, although Charlie was the only one to have played before, it did not help him too much. If anyone is going to try this the first time, I highly suggest our method. Everyone watched the Video with Scott on Die Macher. This is about a 1 hour investment in time and well worth it. Second, most of us read the rules....another 1/2 hour investment. So, we all had about 1 1/2 hours into the game before it even started.
When everyone showed up, we just jumped right in. Of course since we weren't familiar with the game, there were quite a few rule checks and clarifications, but overall, it went very smooth. Play time ran right at 5 hours with Kris dominating the countryside. Final standings:
Kris
Ted
Charlie
James
Dave
Overall, it was well worth the effort and could get a maximum rating if it just played in a shorter time. I am eager to try the short variant to see if it looses anything.
Gheos
A final closer as we had some time left over and a couple of people had not tried it. Dave jumped to an early lead and never let go. Decent little tile laying game that I cannot seem to get my head around or get the right tiles at the right time....not sure which. Standings:
Dave
Ted
Kris
Charlie
