We started the night with just three with David, Tony and Ted. It
was nice to see Tony back after a rather long hiatus. James was
going to be late so we jumped into some three players while we waited
for others.
Arbos
We decided on a quick filler of building a beautiful tree. I have
the expansion printed which is action cards that direct player turns.
Tony decided to set the tree height making it very wobbly.
They game was moving well and during the second run through the
deck, I accidentally hit the table causing everything to go flying.
We decided to stop there with no clear winner since we decided we
were all that was coming until James arrived later.
Louis IV
Dave had been wanting to learn this one as he had just ordered a copy
and heard it was a good game. The game progressed nicely and I
think this may have been the first time I have ever played it with
three players. I really thought I had the game won. Tony
had built 7 cards and Dave and I only 6. But, I had a ton of
shields and was hoping that would get me over the edge. However,
in the end, Tony had enough money to buy 6 shields. This was to
prove my downfall by 2 points. Very close game though. Good
going, Tony.
On the Underground
By this time, James had arrived for the wrap up of Louis. Dave
was itching to try his newest acquisition, On the Underground.
James was the start player and took off to a rapid lead and was
never caught the whole game. We got close about mid game but he
had some really nice routes and it seemed people were always on his
trains.
Palazzo
Another game I had not tried in a while. Early on Dave grabbed a
nice group of buildings and managed to get two pure buildings up.
Although we all had similar holdings, Dave had the nicest
construction for the win.
Hoopla
This is a party game from the Cranium folks and I think it is a lot of
fun. Everyone plays as a team against a timer to get rid of a
group of cards by means of comparisons, charades, drawing, etc.
It is worth a good laugh and fun time.
